Q. What are most motorcycle jackets made of?

A. Leather
Leather is a tough durable hide that does not easily snag or friction-burn in the event of a motorcycle crash or slide out. This makes leather an optimal choice for protection for motorcycle riders.
Other durable materials often used to make motorcycle jackets include:
Textile - Textile jackets tend to be very adjustable, breathable and can be very good at repelling elements if the jacket is built for a particular purpose like rain or wind. This option is available in most if not all styles of riding.
Buck Skin - Buck Skin or Deer Skin will offer all the protections that a purpose built motorcycle jacket will offer with more abrasion durability than leather/cow-hide. Buck-Skin is stronger than Cow-hide leather.
What is your riders ride style?
Different ride styles include ( and not limited too) sport, cruiser, touring, enduro, motocross, cafe and bobber.
Jackets can be specific to the riders style. Typically road jackets are for road motorcyclist and off-road jackets are for off-road motorcyclist.
Where does your rider ride and what are the conditions?
Places to ride include the open road, city streets, off-road, trails etc.
Riding conditions include day, night, rain, wind, heat, snow etc.
Jackets can have specific purposes for the different conditions they are used in. For example, some jacketss have high ventilation for hot conditions and others can be waterproof for extremely wet conditions such as rain. A road jacket may have reflective surfaces for increased visibility for other drivers while an off-road jacket may be sealed completely to protect from outside elements.
